Product 411 -- New(ish) ColourPop Releases

I've been such a slacker lately that I've got a pile of products to review that's about waist-high at this point. In particular, I've got a ton of ColourPop stuff that I've bought over the past few months and haven't gotten around to writing about yet.

(Because seriously, they seem to put out a new collection every single week -- in fact, at the time I'm writing this, they're releasing a new collection tomorrow or the day after, and I know I'll probably buy some stuff from it... I just can't help myself.)

To get through my backlog a little more quickly, I figured I'd do an overview of all of these new-ish ColourPop items in one post. I also don't feel like there's a need to do an in-depth review of the items because the quality and formula is pretty consistent across the board and I've already reviewed most ColourPop product categories, so it just seems redundant.

So here's just a general rundown with some swatches. I'll be sure to point out my favorites, though.

Product Review -- ColourPop No Filter Natural Matte Foundation, Setting Powder, and Sheer Pressed Powder

It's been fun to see ColourPop gradually expanding their product line to include pretty much a full range of makeup. Foundation seemed to be one of the final frontiers for them (I think all they're missing now for a full face is mascara?), and with the introduction of the No Filter Natural Matte Foundation, it appears they've finally conquered that.

Along with the world of setting powder -- No Filter Setting Powder -- and pressed powder -- No Filter Sheer Pressed Powder.

I'm a pretty big fan of the No Filter Concealer that came out about a year ago, especially since they've expanded the shade selection, so I was pretty excited to give the foundation a try.

I have to admit that I did get a little nervous when I saw the word "matte" in the product name, though. My skin is normal to dry, so matte foundations aren't usually the best fit for me. This one describes itself as natural matte, though, which did make me feel a little bit better -- and for only $12, I figured it was worth a try.

Product 411 -- ColourPop Fame and Fortune Shadow Palettes

It's pretty hard to keep up with all of the new products that ColourPop puts out.

Don't get me wrong... I certainly try to, but they put out new items at a pretty prolific rate, so it's impossible to stay on top of all of them.

I have done a pretty good job of keeping with their shadow palettes (I think there's only one in the line that I haven't snagged yet), though, so I picked up the Fame and Fortune Shadow Palettes that ColourPop put out for their birthday.

One of them features cool-toned shadows! How could I possibly resist?

Product Review -- ColourPop Lux Lipsticks

When they first started out several years back, ColourPop's lip products are what really put them on the map.

Well, the Lippie Stix and the Super Shock Shadows anyway.

So it's been pretty cool to see how their lip products have evolved over time. Their Lippie Stix are still great, but now they have a ton of liquid lip products to choose from too.

At the end of the day, though, I'm more into traditional lipsticks than liquid lip products, so I was really excited to hear that ColourPop was introducing their Lux Lipstick line.

Product Review -- ColourPop Shayla x ColourPop Perception Eyeshadow Palette and Shayla Lux Lipsticks

Everytime that ColourPop puts out a new pressed eyeshadow palette, I know that I'm going to pick it up even before I see the promo photos.

That's because the quality is always excellent and the price point is always reasonable, and I'm willing to go outside my comfort zone in terms of shade selection because I can get in makeup ruts pretty easily.

So I was all over the Shayla x ColourPop Perception Eyeshadow Palette the minute it was announced. I've only started watching Makeupshayla's YouTube videos over the past year or so, but I enjoy her quite a bit so I definitely don't mind supporting her either.

The palette features the same type of packaging that all of ColourPop's other palettes do -- it's made of sturdy cardboard that's nice and slim for easy storage. But it does include a mirror on the inside, which most of ColourPop's other palettes don't. The palette doesn't stay open by itself, though, so you'll need to prop it up against something if you want to use it to do your makeup.

At this point, I'm pretty much powerless to ColourPop new releases.

They introduce a new product, and I order it a minute later.

I just can't help myself.

The fact that I'm always seriously impressed with everything I pick up definitely doesn't help.

I recently bought the ColourPop X Kathleen Lights Dream St. Shadow Palette and lippies, the Give It To Me Straight Shadow Palette, and the In-Nude-Endo Pressed Highlighter Palette, and they're all pretty fantastic.

Product 411: ColourPop Semi-Precious, Golden State of Mind, All I See Is Magic, Take Me Home, and Double Entendre Shadow Palettes

I've ever met a ColourPop Pressed Shadow Palette that I didn't like, which is why I think I own every one that they've put out so far.

They combine great quality with great value -- how can I resist?

Now, ColourPop does seem to come out with a new palette every week, which is a little overwhelming, but I'm not about to complain.

Over the past couple of months, I've tried the Semi-Precious, Golden State of Mind, All I See Is Magic, Take Me Home, and Double Entendre Palettes -- and they're just as good as all of the other palettes I've tried from ColourPop.

The palettes vary in size, but they all come in sturdy cardboard packaging that's thin and convenient to store. The only one that has a mirror inside, though, is the mini, Take Me Home.

Product 411: ColourPop Element of Surprise and You Had Me At Hello Shadow Palettes

Note: So I've fallen embarrassingly behind on products that I've been meaning to review, and instead of just skipping over them entirely, I thought I might do the occasional round-up where I do mini-reviews for multiple products -- sometimes from the same brand, something from the same product category -- in one post. 

That way, I can still share my thoughts on noteworthy items without needing until next Christmas to get caught up. ;)

At this point, I should probably just admit that I'm a dedicated collector of ColourPop's pressed eyeshadow palettes.

I'm pretty sure that I have everyone they've done at this point.

But I can't really feel guilty about it because the quality is always outstanding and the prices can't be beat.

I mean, 12 shadows for $16 (in most cases anyway) -- how can you beat that?

Like all of the the other ColourPop palettes that I've tried, the two that I'm going to talk about in this post feature a pretty great formula. The shadows are all extremely pigmented -- and they're smooth and creamy too.

Product 411 -- ColourPop I Think I Love You Pressed Powder Shadow Palette

A couple of months ago, I did one of these Product 411 posts about ColourPop's first pressed powder shadow palettes, Yes, Please! and She, because there was really no point in doing a full review, considering that the shadow formula in the palettes was pretty much identical to ColourPop's single Pressed Powder Shadows.

Which is pretty cool since so many brands seem to fill palettes with inferior quality shadows.

ColourPop keeps their formula consistent, and while the pans are smaller in the palettes than for the singles, you're still getting a great value with 12 shades for just $16.

So when ColourPop released the I Think I Love You Pressed Powder Shadow Palette , I picked it up without hesitation.

And the good news is the quality is just as good with this one -- if not even a little better, actually -- and the colors are just perfect for fall and a wide variety of skin tones, so it's a palette that I imagine a lot of people will be interested in.

Product Review -- ColourPop Pressed Powder Highlighter and Bronzer

Ever since ColourPop came out with their pressed powder eye shadows a while back, they've been expanding more and more into that realm.

They've had several small palettes on the market over the past few months with pressed blushes, highlighters, and bronzers, but I hadn't picked any of them up because there was always one or two shades that wouldn't work with my skin tone and I've been trying to get better about not buying makeup items that I won't really get a lot of use out of.

So I was pretty excited when ColourPop released individual pressed powder highlighters and bronzers.  I wanted a bunch, but I was good and just picked up a couple of the highlighters and one of the bronzers. 

You can purchase both the highlighters and bronzers in compacts, which are $8, or just the pans, which are $7 and can be placed in any magnetic palette.

Product 411: ColourPop Yes, Please! and She Pressed Powder Shadow Palettes

I've already expressed my affection for the ColourPop Pressed Powder Shadows so I was pretty excited when they came out with larger shadow palettes that contained 12 shadows.

There's not much point in a doing a full blown review of these palettes, though, because the shadow formula is essentially the same as the single shadows, but I did think it might help folks who are on the fence about them to do a quick little rundown with some swatches.

At the moment, both the Yes, Please! and She Palettes are out of stock, but ColourPop has been restocking them pretty regularly, so if you're interested, keep an eye out.

Product Review -- ColourPop No Filter Concealer

From the moment that I first tried ColourPop's Super Shock Shadows a couple of years back, I've been a pretty big fan of nearly all of their products.

There are a couple that I haven't gotten around to trying -- I haven't tried any of the brow products, for example, mainly because I just don't get very excited about brow stuff in general and I'd rather spend my money on other things -- but I am pretty much always waiting with bated breath to see what they're coming out with next.

So I was pretty giddy when I heard that the brand was finally venturing into complexion products with a line of concealers. The No Filter Concealer is described as a lightweight, creamy concealer with soft blurring pigments -- um, okay, sign me the hell up!

The concealers are available in 16 shades, and because I'm pale as a ghost, I purchased it in the two lightest shades, Fair 5 and Fair Neutral 10.

Product Review -- ColourPop Pressed Shadows

I've been a huge fan of ColourPop since I first tried their Super Shock Shadows and Lippie Stix several years back.

In particular, I love the Super Shock Shadows because they combine all the best things about powder shadows and cream shadows in a single product.

Still, there are some issues that arise with these shadows, such as sometimes having trouble finding brushes that work with them (particularly in the crease), and I'm a certifiable makeup junkie, so I was very excited when I heard that ColourPop was coming out with Pressed Powder Shadows.

The shadows are available as both singles and a couple of pre-made palettes (and currently, as part of the Valentine's Day collection, some duos are available as well). Right now, you can get a free cardboard palette -- with a pretty white and silver star design -- to place the shadows in if you purchase 4 singles.

I purchased one of the pre-made palettes and 5 of the single shadows.

Product Review -- ColourPop Creme Gel Liners

When I gave ColourPop's Creme Gel Colours a try, I couldn't resist picking up some of their Creme Gel Liners too.

They're basically the Creme Gel Colours in pencil form, which is pretty cool because sometimes, you just want the ease of a pencil when you're applying eyeliner.

And ColourPop has the same shades for both the Creme Gel Colours and Creme Gel Liners, so if you prefer one formula over the other, you can always get the color that you want.

I picked up the Creme Gel Liners in four shades: Best O, a deep burgundy brown; Call Me, a plummy brown; Over Board, a metallic bronze; and Stomper, a dark cool-toned brown.

As much as I love ColourPop -- and I am seriously head over heels for the brand, for sure -- I'm a little bit behind on their new products and reviewing the ones that I have managed to pick up.

The Creme Gel Colours have been out for a while now, and I've actually had them for quite some time, but so much new makeup stuff seems to come out everyday that I just haven't gotten around to reviewing them.

Please don't take that as any kind of commentary on the products themselves because I've got to say, they're pretty great gel liners (and very affordable too!).

Product Review -- ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip Liquid Lipsticks

I've mentioned before that I'm not a huge fan of liquid lipsticks.

That's mainly because most of them provide a matte finish that feels really drying and uncomfortable.

So while I appreciate the staying power, I just don't wind up wearing them all that often.

I have several of the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip Liquid Lipsticks, and to my surprise, I actually like them quite a bit. They are certainly drying, but they don't feel tight or uncomfortable on the lips at all.

Still, I was pretty excited when I heard that ColourPop was coming out with a line of Ultra Satin Lip Liquid Lipsticks because I figured that they would be even more comfortable to wear due to the satin finish.

And happily, I was right.

Product Review -- ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip Liquid Lipsticks

Note: I have to offer my apologies for disappearing again for the past couple of weeks. All of the fault lies with the holidays and various kinds of insanity related to them. But now the new year has started, I am ready to get back on a track -- and I've got a bunch of exciting new products, including some great drugstore finds, that I can't wait to share!

I'm a huge fan of ColourPop products and usually buy their new products as soon as they're available.

In recent months, though, I've fallen a little behind on their new releases, so when they had some sales around Thanksgiving and the holidays, I decided to catch up on what I'd missed.

The first product that I decided to try were the Ultra Matte Lip Liquid Lipsticks.

These lip products have been out since the summer, but I wasn't as excited about them as other people, I think.

I've mentioned before that I'm not really a fan of these types of ultra matte liquid lipsticks because the formula is usually super dry and unforgiving when it comes to any cracks or dry patches on your lips.

Product 411 -- ColourPop Fall 2015 Collection

I'm a fan of nearly everything that ColourPop does, so whenever they put a new collection, I'm all over it.

Especially when it's a fall collection with lots of shades that I dig -- and as an added bonus, it's 90s themed. I grew up in the 90s so the nostalgia factor definitely helps.

I made my purchases from the collection of single products -- I haven't picked up either of the sets ... yet. I'm trying to be strong because so many brands launching their holiday collections these days and I only want to buy things that I really want. Still, both the shadow and lippie sets are calling my name so who knows how long I'll hold out? -- which contains Super Shock Shadows, Super Shock Cheek Blushes, Lippie Stix, and Lippie Pencils.

Product 411 -- ColourPop Summer Collection Bronzers,Super Shock Cheeks, Super Shock Shadows, and Lippie Stix

If I wasn't a total makeup glutton, Mondays in Malibu and Sundays in Silverlake, the two sets that I picked up from ColourPop's Summer Collection and talked about here, would be more than enough to get me ready for the warm weather ahead.

But I'm greedy and there were just too many pretty individual items in the rest of ColourPop's Summer Collection that I couldn't resist picking up a ton  few more things.

So I thought I'd do a quick rundown of the shades I picked up in case you're trying to decide what to buy. I'll do a mini-review on the bronzers, though, because those are new products (though the formula is the same as the blushes and highlighters so you can probably decide if you'd like them or not).

Product 411 -- ColourPop Mondays in Malibu Super Shock Shadow Collection and Sundays in Silverlake Lippie Stix Collection

ColourPop is on a serious roll lately.

Though I guess that's not entirely accurate -- because they seem to have been on a roll from the very start. Pretty much every product that I've tried from them has been fantastic.

Still, their summer collection had me swooning the very first second I saw it because the colors are just to die for.

Which is why I purchased way more from the collection that I should have.

I just couldn't resist.

If you're trying to be good, though, I definitely recommend the two sets from the collection -- Mondays in Malibu, a set of six Super Shock Shadows, and Sundays in Silverlake, a set of six Lippie Stix.
