Product Review -- Revolution Beauty Reloaded Eyeshadow Palettes

As I've said before, I definitely enjoy plenty of high-end makeup products, but there's always something exciting about finding a budget-friendly product that performs well.

Who doesn't want to save a little money when you can?

Revolution Beauty is a brand that puts out plenty of high-quality products at a very affordable price point, so I'm always willing to give their new items a try.

Their Reloaded Eyeshadow Palettes have been out for a while, and I've slowly been collecting them. I only have four at the moment, but I feel like the quality is consistent enough among those that I have to assume what the others are like as well.

The palettes are only $7 each, but you get 15 shades in each one so they're a serious value.

Product Review -- Makeup Revolution Revolution Pro Foundation Drops

I've been on kind of Makeup Revolution (or is it just Revolution now? Have they officially changed their name? I'm a little confused...) shopping spree lately.

I love brands that offer quality products at affordable prices, so it's kind of hard to control myself.

So even though the last thing I need is another foundation, I couldn't resist trying out the Revolution Pro Foundation Drops.

It's meant to be more of a natural, breathable foundation, so if you're a fan of full coverage makeup, this may not be the best option for you.

Product Review -- Makeup Revolution The Emily Edit The Needs and The Wants Palettes

I've bought quite a few makeup products that were collaborations between a brand and a YouTube beauty influenster but in most of those cases, I only bought the items because the specific shades or products appealed to me, not because I had much invested in the influenster in particular.

When I heard that Emily Noel was coming out with some palettes with Makeup Revolution, though, I knew that I'd buy them no matter what they looked like.

I've been watching Emily for 10 (maybe more even) years, and I appreciate pretty much everything about her. Supporting her is a no-brainer.

It doesn't hurt that I've become a big fan of Makeup Revolution over the past few years too -- they put out a lot of really quality products at an affordable price point, so there's plenty to like about the brand.

Product Review -- Makeup Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation

I've become a pretty big fan of foundation sticks in recent years.

They're just so quick and easy to apply, so when I'm in a rush, I feel like they're often the best bet for getting my foundation on.

But shopping for foundation sticks is always a little dicey because there are some formulas that have a drier texture with a matte finish that work really well for oily skin -- and are pretty much crap for dry skin because they cling to every single dry patch and flake that you might have -- and then there are formulas that have a creamy, almost moisturizing formula that glides easily over dry skin -- and is a disaster for oily skin because it'll probably slide right off.

If you choose the wrong foundation stick for your skin type, you're going to hate it -- I've learned that the hard way.

So I was a little nervous about trying the Makeup Revolution (have they changed their name to Revolution Beauty? That's how their websites seem to refer to themselves these days, but Ulta still has them listed as Makeup Revolution ... so I'm a little confused) Fast Base Stick Foundation -- I feel like drugstore foundations are usually matte and geared toward oily skin, though budget-friendly cream products often have a greasy texture than even my dry skin doesn't really enjoy.

Product Review -- Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Full Coverage Concealer

I'm a pretty big fan of the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer.

It's a full coverage concealer that somehow manages to look natural and not at all cakey or dry under the eyes.

But it is $24, so it's not exactly the most budget-friendly concealer on the market.

That's why I was excited to hear that Makeup Revolution was coming out with their own answer to Shape Tape -- the Conceal and Define Full Coverage Concealer is certainly inspired by Shape Tape, though I don't personally find them to be identical.

Product Review -- Makeup Revolution Unicorn Love Eyeshadow Palette

Last week, I talked about the Makeup Revolution Death by Chocolate Eyeshadow Palette and mentioned that I picked up another palette from the line during a BOGO-1/2 off sale.

The Makeup Revolution Unicorn Love Eyeshadow Palette is the same style as the Death By Chocolate in that it comes in the same long rectangular packaging and contains 16 eyeshadows in a layout that's very reminiscent of the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palettes.

The Unicorn Love Palette doesn't have a chocolate theme -- well, at least in theory.  It comes in a pink compact that has a fuzzy texture and a large crystal-like heart in the center.

Product Review -- Makeup Revolution Death by Chocolate Palette

I've had pretty good luck with most of the Makeup Revolution products that I've tried.

They make some of my all-time favorite highlighters, the Blushing Hearts Triple Baked Highlighter and the Vivid Baked Highlighter Powder, and I absolutely adore the New-Trals vs. Neutrals Professional Eyeshadow Palette, so I'm always willing to give their new stuff a try.

Recently (it's probably been several months actually... is it just me or is 2017 seriously flying by), they came out with a bunch of eyeshadow palettes that are clearly inspired by the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palettes, right down to the packaging, and I was definitely curious.

There are 5 or 6 of them in total, but I decided to purchase the Death by Chocolate Palette, which is supposed to feature rich, warm neutrals and cool, smokey plums -- because I definitely don't have enough of those kinds of palettes in my collection (that's sarcasm, for sure).

The palette comes in a rectangular brown plastic compact. It is designed to look like a chocolate bar, just like the Too Faced Palettes, but this one is melting a bit, which is kind of cute. Inside, there is a good size mirror, which stays open by itself so you can easily use it to do your makeup if you're on the go.

The palette contains 16 shadows. The shades include: White Light, a matte vanilla; Don't Let Go, a shimmery light bronze; Break Me Up, a matte light taupe; Consume Me, a mid-tone brown with a satin finish; All Is Lost, a mid-tone gray with a satin finish; Lick Me, a matte light pink; Fool's Gold, a shimmery gold; One More Bar, a matte mid-tone brown; Devour Me, a matte black brown; Tear the Wrapper, a shimmery copper bronze; Love You to Death, a shimmery plum; Pray for Me, a shimmery golden taupe; Dipped, a shimmery bronze taupe; Tease Me, a shimmery silver taupe; Set Me Free, a shimmery light taupe; and Bring Down Angels, a shimmery golden ivory.

As is the case with the other Makeup Revolution shadow palettes, the formula isn't perfect. The shimmery and satin shades are nicely pigmented, creamy, and smooth, so they're easy to work with.

The mattes can be a little sheer and dry, though they do build easily so I don't have any real issue using them.

And considering the palette is only $15 so you're paying less than $1 per shadow, I would say that they're really pretty nice shadows.

Of course, I love the shades -- they're mainly warm bronze-y and taupe shades that are always a favorite of mine. Don't Let Go, Tear the Wrapper, Dipped, and Tease Me are probably my most used shades in the palette, but they all work pretty well -- and it lends itself to both daytime and evening looks so it's pretty versatile too.

I don't think I'm going to buy any other palettes in the line (I already purchased another, though, because the palettes were BOGO-1/2 off, which I plan to review) but that's because the rest seem to contain shades that I already have a lot of in my collection.

However, if Makeup Revolution comes out with other palettes in the line with shades I don't have so many of, I wouldn't hesitate to buy them.

As I said, the palette retails for $15 and you can purchase them at Ulta.

Product Review -- Makeup Revolution Blushing Hearts Triple Baked Highlighter

Like pretty much every makeup brand, Makeup Revolution offers a lot of hits and misses.

And a bunch of sort okay products that'll work or not work depending on the individual.

I really like the brand, though, because even though they don't get every product exactly right, they're always trying new things and offering up budget-friendly alternatives to higher end products.

In my mind, though, what they really excel at is highlighters.

Recently, I reviewed the Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter and declared that it was my very favorite drugstore highlighter.

I think I may have to change my mind about that, though ... because since then I've tried the Makeup Revolution Blushing Hearts Triple Baked Highlighter, which has pretty much blown my mind.

I've tried quite a few baked products over the years, and usually, I love the glowy, luminous quality that they seem to have.

Like a lot of people, I live for a good highlighter.

So even though I have a drawer full of them, I'm always on the hunt for the next best highlighting product -- and if it happens to be a budget-friendly product, all the better.

There certainly are quite a few drugstore highlighters that do a nice job -- the e.l.f. Baked Highlighters have been a favorite of mine for a while now -- but I have had some trouble finding one that offers as intense a highlight as some of my higher end favorites.

Product Review -- Makeup Revolution Romantic Smoked Redemption Eyeshadow Palette

I've had pretty good lucky with most of the Makeup Revolution products that I've tried.

That's why I couldn't resist picking up another one of their eye shadow palettes when I was at Ulta recently.

It has an amazing satin-y burgundy shade in it. How could I possibly resist?

The Romantic Smoked Redemption Eyeshadow palette definitely has some dark shades that are ideal for a smoky eye, but there are purple and peach tones, as well as the burgundy shade I mentioned above, to live up to the romantic description in its title.

Product Review -- Makeup Revolution Ultra Base Corrector Palette

Color correcting products have been pretty popular in the makeup world over the past year.

I've stayed away from them mainly because I had bad luck with these kinds of products back in my younger days (long story short -- I wound up going to school in 9th grade with a faint ring of green all around my entire face because of a green primer that I hadn't blended in well enough. Oh the horror!), but I will admit that I've been just a little bit curious.

I mean, I don't have major color correcting needs, but I do get darkness under my eyes and redness in certain areas of my face, such as around the nose, and I wondered if my improved makeup skills might make the difference in how the products performed now as opposed to when I was 15.

I didn't want to spend too much, though, so I decided to give the Makeup Revolution Ultra Base Corrector Palette a try.

I've had good experiences with the other Makeup Revolution products I've tried, so I figured it was a go.

And it was only $10 for eight color corrector shades, which seemed like a pretty good deal.

I've mentioned before that I've kind of become obsessed with blush palettes lately.

I just love having a bunch of pretty colors in one convenient place.

Most of the blush palettes that I've picked up are on the pricey side, so I was really excited to try the Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette -- because for just $10, you get eight shades.

That's a pretty great deal, right?

Product Review -- Makeup Revolution New-Trals vs. Neutrals Professional Eyeshadow Palette

I'm a sucker for any and pretty much all kinds of makeup, but the fastest way for a makeup brand to hook me is to put out an eye shadow palette that features warm, peachy, rusty, reddish tones.

I can't say no to that color family ... ever.

So when I trying to pick out an eye shadow palette to try from Makeup Revolution, the New-Trals vs. Neutrals Professional Eyeshadow Palette seemed like the natural choice. 

Makeup Revolution describes the palette as a "new generation of natural shades," which is a pretty accurate description, I think. There is one row of traditional natural shades and one row that features peach, orange, rust, and burgundy tones, so it turns out to be a really versatile palette.

Product Review -- Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette

Ever since Ulta started carrying Makeup Revolution products, I've wanted to give them a try.

There are a ton of interesting ones, actually, so when they were BOGO 1/2 off a little while back, I decided to pick up a few.

The one that I was most interested in was the Ultra Contour Palette -- that's because it's similar to a lot of higher end contouring palettes, but it's only $15.

That's even less than the NYX Highlight and Contour Pro Palette, which retails for about $25, and I just feel like if you're someone who's not into hardcore contouring everyday, you don't necessarily need an expensive, high end palette to get the job done.
