Product Review -- Makeup Revolution Romantic Smoked Redemption Eyeshadow Palette

I've had pretty good lucky with most of the Makeup Revolution products that I've tried.

That's why I couldn't resist picking up another one of their eye shadow palettes when I was at Ulta recently.

It has an amazing satin-y burgundy shade in it. How could I possibly resist?

The Romantic Smoked Redemption Eyeshadow palette definitely has some dark shades that are ideal for a smoky eye, but there are purple and peach tones, as well as the burgundy shade I mentioned above, to live up to the romantic description in its title.

The palette comes in a black plastic compact with a clear window on the lid so you can see the shades inside. A double-ended sponge tip applicator is also included.

The palette contains 12 shadows, 6 of which have shimmer or satin finishes and 6 of which have matte finishes. There's a shimmery white, a shimmery mid-tone brown, a shimmery pink-ish champagne, a shimmery green-ish gray, a shimmery silver-y lilac, a satin-y burgundy, a matte pink-y beige, a matte cool brown, a matte lilac, a matte black, a matte dark gray, and a matte peach.

All of the shadows in the palette are nicely pigmented and not particularly powdery. The shimmer and satin shades tend to feel a little creamier and smoother than the matte shades, but I'm pleased with the way the matte shades perform too, even if their texture is slightly drier.

While the palette definitely leans smoky, I feel like there's a good variety to the looks that you can do with this palette. That's because it's not just all black and gray shades. You can definitely keep your look softer with the pink champagne, silver lilac, and peach shades, but the black, gray, and brown shadows make it easy to add a little drama.

And the burgundy shade is just everything. I love using a duo-fiber crease brush to lightly work a little of it through the crease to warm up a darker look -- it's just gorgeous, and will be especially pretty for fall, I think.

I will say that I think I prefer the shadow formula in Make Revolution's New-Trals vs. Neutrals Palette, but for $7, I feel like this palette is a real steal.

That's right -- you get 12 very nice shadows for just $7. It's hard to beat that.

You can find the palette at Ulta.

Have you tried the Makeup Revolution Romantic Smoked Redemption Eyeshadow Palette? What are your favorite products from Makeup Revolution?
