Product Review -- IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream Illumination

For the most part, I feel like American BB and CC creams are gimmick-y.

Because for whatever "skin care" ingredients they might contain, they really just perform like tinted moisturizers, which is hardly an earth-shattering development in the beauty world.

Of course, there are a couple of exceptions to the rule -- the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream is not only one of my favorite BB/CC creams; it's one of my favorite face products period.

It provides medium to full coverage, is hydrating, feels lightweight, contains SPF50, and applies flawlessly with your hands -- what's not to love?

So when I heard that IT Cosmetics was coming out with an illuminating version of the CC cream, I had to give it a try.

Because I'm all about illumination -- I like looking dewy and glowy and all those things.

To be honest, though, I think the original YSBB CC+ Cream has a nice dewy finish so I really wasn't sure what to expect from the Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream Illumination.

In general, it has all the same amazing qualities as the original -- good coverage, hydrating, lightweight, SPF50, and a smooth, creamy texture that makes it blend into the skin easily with just your fingers.

It also comes in the same convenient squeeze tube with a pump dispenser, so it's easy to get out just the right amount. (FYI, one pump is usually enough for my entire face.)

In terms of finish, I think there is a subtle, but key difference.

While the original YSBB CC+ Cream had a slightly dewy or satin-y finish too, the YSBB CC+ Cream Illumination catches the light in a way that the it just doesn't. I know it's a corny, marketing hype kind of line, but the Illumination version really does make your skin look like it's lit from within.

Now, obviously, that won't be for everybody.

If you've got oily skin, you probably won't like this product. If you're got normal to dry skin, though, it'll probably seem like holy grail material.

I absolutely love it. It hasn't been my favorite for summer when my skin tends to get more oily and I'm sweating up a storm, but I do still wear it occasionally with some powder over it. I loved in the cooler spring weather and expect to be living it come fall and winter.

As with the original YSBB CC+ Cream, I purchased the illumination version in the lightest shade, Fair, and it's a good match for my pale skin.

And if you're still not sure how I feel about this product, I can tell you that I will rush out and repurchase it as soon as I use up this tube. I don't want to be without it.

It retails for $38, and you can purchase it at the IT Cosmetics website, QVC, and Ulta.

Have you tried the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream Illumination? Are you a fan?

  1. Wow, you really sound super excited about this one. I think many people might be hesitant to buy this because "illumination" might sound like they just threw a lot of glitter or chunky reflecting stuff in it but the swatch looks really normal (in the best way possible).

    1. That's why it's such a great product -- the finish is really subtle and it's not until the light catches in a certain way that you really see the glow. So it looks really natural. I am totally in love. :)
