Product Review -- Wet n Wild Color Icon Blushes (new formula) and Ombre Blushes

Wet n Wild Color Icon Ombre Blushes
Wet n Wild Color Icon Blushes
Wet n Wild has been coming out with a quite a few new products recently, as well as reformulating some of their old favorites, and as a fan of the brand, I've been wanting to try most of them out.

I started with the blushes, because that's always seemed a strong point in the Wet n Wild lineup.

Which is why I was kind of surprised to hear that they were reformulating the Color Icon Blushes.

I'd always liked those, and thought they were pretty great for a drugstore blush -- so if it ain't broke, why fix it?

To be honest, I can't really see a difference in the formula, which is a good thing.

They come in the same rectangular plastic compacts, though the pans in the new version appear to be larger.

I purchased one of the existing shades, Pearlescent Pink, which I do have in the old formula, and they seem pretty identical -- same smooth texture, high pigmentation, and nice glow-y finish on the cheeks.

Pearlescent Pink is a rosy pink with gold shimmer. Rose Champagne is a rosy bronze with gold shimmer. Apri-cot in the Middle is a peach with gold shimmer.

They're all very nice, wearable shades, but I think Rose Champagne is my favorite. It adds a nice warmth to the cheeks, but there's still a pretty rosy glow in there too.

These blushes retail for $2.99 wherever Wet n Wild products are sold, and are a real bargain in my opinion.

I also picked up the new Ombre Blushes, which feature gradient design that goes from light to dark.

These come in square plastic compacts and don't include a brush like the Color Icon Blushes do.

There are three shades: Mai Tai Buy You a Drink, a shimmery peach; The Princess Daiquiries, a shimmery pale pink; and In a Purple Haze, a shimmery pink lilac.

All three shades are lovely, and the formula is just as nice as with the Color Icon Blushes. However, the shades are fairly light, so I'm not sure how well they would show up on darker skin tones.

In a Purple Haze is the real standout here, in my opinion, because it's not a shade that you see very often -- and it's perfect for spring and summer looks too.

Oh, and FYI, Mai Tai Buy You a Drink is pretty close in color to Apri-cot in the Middle (which is just a tad darker) so you probably don't need both in your collection.

The Ombre Blushes retail for $4.99 each, and are exclusive to Target.

Have you tried the reformulated Wet n Wild Color Icon Blushes or the new Ombre Blushes? Which shades are your favorite?
