Product Review -- Tarte Double Duty Beauty Eye & Cheek Palette in Classic Courage

Tarte has been putting out so many new products lately that it's almost hard to keep up.

And while I pretty much want to buy all of them, I've had to restrain myself.

So I tried really hard not to cave on the Tarte Double Duty Beauty Eye & Cheek Palette in Classic Courage.

I like the idea of palettes that features eye shadows and cheek colors in a single compact because they're perfect for when you're traveling. Tarte's idea with this palette is that you could throw it in your bag so you can bump up your daytime look when you're headed out at night.

For me, the biggest lure of the palette was the shadow in Lucky Penny.

Copper shades are a serious weakness for me.

That's why, even though I kept telling myself that I didn't need another palette, I eventually wound up caving and buying the palette.

Fortunately, I don't regret it.

The palette features sturdy cardboard packaging with a gold metallic finish and an inspirational quote in purple on the lid. It is a little bulky, but I think you could toss it most medium to large purses with ease. There is a small mirror on the inside that would work for touch-ups too.

Tarte also includes a card with look ideas.

Inside, there are five shadows and one blush shade.

They include: Rise & Shine, a matte beige; Lucky Penny, a metallic rosy copper; Trailblazer, a matte chocolate brown; Rosy Outlook, a metallic rosy gold; Smile On, a metallic dark brown; and Courage, a matte nude pink blush.

I'm a fan of Tarte shadows, but I think they're particularly nice in this palette. The formula is richly pigmented and creamy, so they apply and blend easily. The blush is like of all Tarte's Amazonian Clay Blushes -- intensely pigmented and long-wearing.

The color scheme really does work if you're interested in using a single palette to go from day to night. All of the shades are pretty natural, but there are enough light to midtone shades to do a softer daytime look and a few dark shades that allow you to go really smoky and sultry.

From l. to r.: Rise & Shine, Rosy Outlook, Smile On, Lucky Penny, Trailblazer, and Courage
In particular, I love Lucky Penny (as predicted), Rosy Outlook, and Smile On. Rosy Outlook is my lid shade of choice when I want a softer look, while Lucky Penny is the perfect subtle smoky lid shade for my fair skin.

Best of all, this palette is only $27 -- for such good quality and versatility, I think that's a bargain.

You can purchase the palette at Ulta, where it's also available in another variation, Star Power.

Have you tried the Tarte Double Duty Beauty Eye & Cheek Palettes? Are you a fan?
