Review -- Tarte Pure Delights 8-Piece LipSurgence Lip Set

These days, nearly every brand puts out special collection for the holidays that offer some pretty fabulous deals whether you're shopping for friends and family or yourself.

But in my mind, Tarte always seems to be ahead of the pack when it comes to holiday bargains. They put out a variety of holiday sets that really allow you to get the ultimate bang for your buck and are particularly ideal for anyone who's been curious about the brand but didn't want to spend $25 for a single blush or $24 for a single lip product.

I am always a sucker for Tarte's holiday kits (as you can probably tell from my most recent post and another one I'll post later this week.) and since I am a big fan of their LipSurgence Lip Tint products, picking up the Tarte Pure Delights 8-Piece LipSurgence Lip Set was kind of a no brainer.

Unlike last years' Lipsurgence kit that features 5 full size products, the Pure Delights sets feature 8 mini lip products (1.75 grams per product).  Personally, I like that change -- the larger lip pencils are difficult to get through, particularly when you've got a large lip product collection, so I'd rather go for a variety of shades with smaller pencils.

The set includes: Glee, a matte reddish pink; Believe, a sheer warm rosy pink; Lovely, a sheer berry pink; Generous, a matte pinky nude; Destined, a matte raspberry pink; Enamored, a sheer pinky red; Cheerful, a matte coral; and Grateful, a sheer pinky nude.

Like the full size LipSurgence products, these pencils don't require sharpening -- you simply twist the bottom to get more product.  They also have the same cool minty scent/taste, which I personally love.

The sheer lip tint shades have a light, moisturizing feeling on the lips, but they don't last very long -- two to three hours tops.  The matte lip tints, on the other hand, have a drier texture -- though they aren't uncomfortable and still feel plenty smooth on the lips -- but tend to last longer -- four to five hours usually.

While they are all new shades, the colors in this set aren't particularly unique, and if you already have a ton of LipSurgence products in your collection, you probably have some that are fairly similiar just with a different name. The colors are still lovely, though, and are all thoroughly wearable (even for a super fair girl like me).

There are a few red or berry shades in the kit, which seems to make it perfect for the holiday season, but my favorite shade is Grateful, the sheer nude shade.  I've worn it a ton since I purchased the kit because it's one of those shades that goes with nearly everything and you can just throw on without really thinking about it or looking in a mirror.

The set retails for $34 and is available at Tarte.com, Sephora, and Ulta

I think the Pure Delights set would make a great gift for someone that you'd like to introduce to Tarte -- or anyone really.

It made a lovely gift for myself, that's for sure.

Are you thinking about buying the Tarte Pure Delights Lip Surgence Set? Are you a fan of the LipSurgence products in general?
