Product Review -- Kat Von D Shade + Light Glimmer Eye Contour Palette
I am a huge fan of the original Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette.
It's all matte palette that still allows for a variety of looks -- and they're pretty much no-brainer so you can always put together an easy but polished eye.
But as much as I love the palette, I have to admit that matte shadows are never going to excite me the way that shimmery shadows do.
Which is why I was pretty excited to try the Kat Von D Shade + Light Glimmer Eye Contour Palette.
It is pretty much a redo of the original palette but with all shimmery and glittery shadows.

Product Review -- Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette
It's always really cool when a makeup company can come out with a product that works in multiple ways.
You really feel like you're getting your money's worth that way.
Still, when I first saw the Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette, I assumed I would be using it strictly for highlighting.
I've been pleasantly surprised by the fact that the palette is just as versatile as advertised.

Product Review -- Kat Von D Lock It Foundation
I'm a big fan of Kat Von D's products, but I'd always stayed away from one of her better known ones, the Lock It Foundation.
That's mainly because it's a long-wearing matte foundation, and those typically aren't the best fit for my normal to dry skin.
Still, I've always been somewhat tempted because of its large shade range -- 33 in total -- because I suspected the lightest shade would be a good match for my very fair skin.
So recently, I decided to bite the bullet and give the foundation a try.
And the verdict is still kind of out, to be honest.

Product Review -- Kat Von D MetalMatte Eyeshadow Palette
Over the past few years, I've tried plenty of eyeshadow palettes (and single shadows too) from Kat Von D, and much to my surprise, I've yet to be really disappointed.
In fact, in most cases, I've been seriously impressed.
If pressed to pick a favorite, I would probably say the Monarch Eyeshadow Palette from a couple of years back, though I really love my Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette too.
I really didn't think anything could top those two.
But the MetalMatte Eyeshadow Palette that's come out recently as part of the Kat Von D holiday collection may actually outclass them (even if only by a hair...).

Product Review -- Kat Von D Shade & Light Eye Contour Palette
I'm a serious fan of Kat Von D's products, so I've wanted the Shade & Light Eye Contour Palette since it came out.
But I've got so many palettes with a natural color scheme that I couldn't really justify picking it up.
Thank goodness for the holidays, though, because I put it on my Christmas list and I was lucky enough to find one under my tree.
And I'm kind of kicking myself for not giving into the impulse to buy it when it first came out because it's a pretty great palette.

Review -- Battle of the Contour Palettes (NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette, Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, and Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Palette)
Contouring and contour palettes have been all the rage lately.
It seems like every time I turn around, another brand is coming up with their own version.
As someone who's very pale, contouring is tricky for me -- but as someone who has no visible cheekbones to speak of, I'm still always willing to give it a try.
So over the past six months or so, I've picked up not one but three different contouring palettes. Instead of doing separate reviews of each of them, I thought it would be helpful to combine them all in one post to do a comparison of sorts.

Review -- Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette
Even if you've only started reading this blog in past week or so, you probably know that I need another eye shadow palette like I need a hole in the head.
And yet, palettes are such a weakness for me.
I see a new one and I just want it.
So as much as I tried to tell myself that I didn't need the new Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette, I wound up caving and picking it up.
Partly because all the reviews I saw were really good and partly because I've really come to like Kat Von D's products so I just trust that they're going to be good.

Review -- Kat Von D Monarch and Chrysalis Eyeshadow Palettes
It's a pretty rare thing when I look at a makeup brand and can honestly say that I've never been disappointed by a product that I've tried from the line.
Seriously, I can count on one hand (with a couple of fingers to spare) the brands that I genuinely feel that way about.
Kat Von D has definitely become one of those brands.
Now, admittedly, I haven't tried as many items from the line as I have with companies like bareMinerals, MAC, or Tarte, but literally, every single product that I have tried has been a home run -- and I give Kat Von D a ton of credit, but I was pretty convinced when the line first came out that it was going to be one of those gimmicky ranges that didn't last for more than a few years.
Instead, the brand just seems to get better and better.
Case in point: the new Monarch and Chrysalis Eyeshadow Palettes.

Review -- Kat Von D Esperanza Eyeshadow Palette
Note -- Thank you to everyone who's entered the blogiversary giveaway! There's still time to enter if you haven't yet -- you have until Saturday at 11:59 PM EST. Good luck!
I don't have a ton of Kat Von D products, but whenever I purchase one, I am always pleasantly surprised.
I say 'pleasantly surprised' because I'll admit that when the line was first introduced at Sephora, I thought it was going to be pretty gimmick-y.
I can admit when I'm wrong -- Kat Von D has come up with quite a few standout products, so I'm always willing to give the line a try now.
In fact, I was seriously disappointed that I missed out on the Spellbinding Eyeshadow Palette that was released for the holidays last year.
That's why when I saw the Esperanza Eyeshadow Palette on Sephora's website, I decided that I'd bite the bullet and pick it up during a little shopping spree courtesy of Christmas and birthday gift cards.

Favorite Concealers
I have two main weaknesses when it comes to makeup – foundations and concealers.
Well, actually, that’s not exactly true since I also have a weakness for blushes, highlighters, peachy lipsticks, navy liners, and glittery polishes. But foundation and concealers, those are my two biggies.
I suppose it has something to do with the fact that my skin is far from perfect – lots of blotchiness, old acne scars, large pores, etc. I’m willing to try anything that can fake the look of a flawless complexion. When it comes to concealer, I usually use it just on my dark circles or areas of redness. If I have a breakout, I typically let my foundation cover as much as it can and leave it alone since I can’t seem to prevent concealer from looking cakey on a zit.
