Product Review -- Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Eyeshadow Palette

I'm a big fan of Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadow palettes, so I am always interested in the new stuff that they put out.

(While I admit that some palettes are better than others, I think I'm one of the rare makeup junkies who's never been really disappointed by any of the ABH palettes. Even the Subculture Palette works pretty well for me.)

But when I saw promotional photos of the Norvina Eyeshadow Palette, I was even more excited than usual.

All the purples and pinks and gorgeous rich metallic shades?

Definitely right up my alley.

Product Review -- Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eye Shadow Palette and Amrezy Highlighter

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like Anastasia Beverly Hills has really been cranking out the eye shadow palettes in a hurry lately.

There was the Subculture Palette (which, unlike a lot of people, I liked just fine) near the end of  last summer and then the Prism Palette for the holidays (which I also liked quite a bit) -- and now, in time for spring, there's the Soft Glam Eye Shadow Palette.

While I liked both the Subculture and Prism Palettes, both color schemes were pretty intense. The Soft Glam's shade range, on the other hand, is right up my alley -- all bronzey, gold, rosy, and neutral tones that are just lovely.

After the "controversy" surrounding the Subculture Eye Shadow Palette, I wondered if it might be a little while before Anastasia Beverly Hills put out another eye shadow palette.

Despite the fact that the Subculture Palette isn't one of my all-time faves, I was really hoping that wouldn't be the case, though.

So I was pretty excited when photos of the Prism Eye Shadow Palette started showing up on Instagram.

Like the Subculture Palette, the shades in this collection are more unique and contain both warm and cool tones, and while I may struggle a bit to put together looks with these types of palettes, I really do enjoy the challenge.

I've been debating whether or not I should write this review because God knows this is one makeup product that's been dissected in every way imaginable, so what could another review possibly add to all the noise?

But I felt like maybe I could offer a another point of view that might have some value in it, so I figured why not?

(If you're tired of all the Subculture drama, I totally get it and you can feel free to  move onto my reviews of other products.)

So right off the bat, let me say that I probably know more about makeup than the average person who walks into Sephora to pick up the Urban Decay Naked Palette or wanders into CVS to choose a new Revlon lipstick. If you read this blog, you know that I am obsessed with makeup, play with it pretty much daily, and know precisely when every new product is coming out.

With all that said, I am not a professional by any stretch of the imagination. My makeup skills are probably pretty good for an average person, but that's only because I've been putting the stuff on for years and I practice, practice, practice. I don't really have an innate talent  -- or imagination, really -- for it. My usual looks aren't the most creative in the world.

I also have extremely fair skin, pale eyes, and red hair, so I don't like the way that I look in a lot of brighter or darker colors. That's simply a matter of personal preference, but I'm just not comfortable working with those types of shades and my blending game with them is probably pretty poor, if I'm being honest.

So that's the background and experience I approach the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette with.

Product Review -- Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild Glow Kit

I've said it before, but I am just as obsessed with highlighters as everyone else seems to be these days.

Even back when when my skin was oily, I always liked a little extra glow along my cheekbones, but now that my skin has gotten drier, it's an absolute must for me when I'm doing my makeup. My face also looks too drab if I don't dust a little highlighter over the tops of my cheeks (I'm also one of those people who loves highlighting the tip of the nose too).

So I am always looking for new highlighters, both in terms of formula, texture, and color.

From pretty much the first moment that I saw the Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild Glow Kit, I was head over heels in love -- but I held back on getting it because I told myself that it probably wasn't the most practical addition to my collection.

Of course, after seeing enough Instagram photos of the palette in action, I couldn't hold out any longer and I finally bit the bullet and picked it up.

Product Review -- Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette

I've always had really good luck with the Anastasia Beverly Hills (ABH) eye shadow palettes.

Which means I've never purchased one that I didn't love.

And yet, I still haven't gotten around to purchasing any of the brand's single shadows.

Weird, right?

But that's sort of beside the point -- my real point is that I often decide to buy an ABH palette without ever seeing it.

I'll hear that they're coming out with something and just assume that it's something I'll want.

That wasn't exactly the case with the ABH Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette.

The first time I heard about it was when I saw a photo on Instagram, and it was quite literally love at first sight.

Product Review -- Anastasia Beverly Hills Self-Made Palette

When you're a makeup junkie, it's pretty difficult to find a palette that's really unique when compared to the rest of your collection.

That's why the Anastasia Beverly Hills Self-Made Palette stood out to me -- it's really unlike anything else I own.

Because while it features some neutral or natural type shades (like so many of the palettes that I own), it also features bolder or more dramatic shades -- and yet everything shadow in the palette is wearable, even for someone like me who has very fair skin and doesn't do well with brighter shades.

Contouring and contour palettes have been all the rage lately.

It seems like every time I turn around, another brand is coming up with their own version.

As someone who's very pale, contouring is tricky for me -- but as someone who has no visible cheekbones to speak of, I'm still always willing to give it a try.

So over the past six months or so, I've picked up not one but three different contouring palettes. Instead of doing separate reviews of each of them, I thought it would be helpful to combine them all in one post to do a comparison of sorts.
