QVC's Tarte "What has your makeup done for you lately?" Upcoming TSV

Tarte July 2012 TSV

My apologies for being MIA the last few days. We've been doing a little bit of a 'staycation' this week, so there have been a few day trips and other activities (lots of big meals too!) that have left me nearly comatose at the end of the day.

I'm pretty sleepy again tonight, but I'm  so excited about the contents of this post that I had to get it up tonight...

In the latest issue of QVC's insider, there was a sneak peek at the Tarte's upcoming July TSV (which will be avaiable either the 13th or the 15th.  I'm not sure on that, but I'll post a reminder a few days before in case you're interested) - and as you can probably guess if you've been reading along with the blog for a while now, I couldn't resist its lure.

I'm a sucker for almost any Tarte TSV because they always seem to put together the best value for your money, but this was in particular was attractive to me because it features a brand new foundation. I've mentioned before that I think the Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation is a great product and is one of the few foundations that actually matches my super fair skin. However, it isn't really the best match for my dry skin so I'm always willing to give Tarte's other foundation offerings a try.

The collection is called "What has your makeup done for you lately?" and features both of Tarte's powerhouse ingredients, maracuja oil and Amazonian clay. It contains 6 products and 1 bonus item: 100% Pure Maracuja Oil Rollerball; Maracuja Miracle 12-Hour Foundation; Flawless Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush; modernEYES Waterproof Creaseless Shadow/Liner; Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara; LipSurgence Lip Shine; and Maracuja C-Brighter Eye Treatment.

TSV contents (l. to r.): foundation brush, foundation, rollerball, Lip Shine, mascara, shadow/liner.

Now, the TSV only arrived this afternoon, so I haven't had a chance to really test all the products but I'll offer some first impressions.

First of all, the box that the TSV comes in is lovely. It's made of a sturdy cardboard and features a pretty purple, pink and white floral pattern. If you like decorative boxes to store keepsakes or other items, I think this one would work well.

Pure Maracuja Oil Rollerball

I've used Tarte's pure maracuja oil as a moisturizer off and on for almost a year now, and really like how lightweight and hydrating it is.  Currently, I have it a large size in a bottle that features a medicine dropper, which can get kind of messy. I love the idea of a rollerball to cut back on the mess - it's perfect for traveling or applying the oil to targeted areas like under the eyes.

The maracuja oil rollerball, which contains 0.6 fluid ounces of product,  is exclusive to QVC until January 2013.

Now, I probably would have bought the kit regardless but the product that really caught my eye was the Maracuja Miracle 12-Hour Foundation. Because it contains maracuja oil, I expect that it will be a better match for a dry to normal skin.  It is much more liquid-y than the Amazonian Clay Foundation, and has a lovely dewy finish (at least it does on the back of my hand.)

It comes in a heavy glass bottle that contains 1 fluid ounce and features an easy-to-use pump.

I chose the foundation in the lightest shade, Fair, but sadly, it's not quite as light as the Fair shade in the Amazonian Clay Foundation. This one almost seems to have a slightly peachy undertone, but I still think it will work with my skin tone.  (Once again, it blended into the back of my hand rather nicely)

The foundation will be exclusive to QVC until July 2013.

Tarte Flawless Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush

The kit also comes with a foundation brush - it's a fluffy style brush, which I prefer for buffing in foundation, and features what appear to be natural bristles. It also has a bamboo handle with a cute, black floral design.  The brush feels very soft and dense enough to blend well.  I'll wash it tomorrow and give it a test run later this week.

Tarte modernEYES Waterproof Creaseless Shadow/Liner

modernEYES Shadow/Liner in Plumberry/Plum Brown

modernEYES Shadow Liner swatches (l. to r.): Plumberry and Plum Brown

I have quite a few of Tarte's eyeliners and shadow pencils, but the modernEYES Waterproof Creaseless Shadow/Liner offers both products in one. The one in the kit features Plumberry shadow and Plum Brown liner, which coordinate beautifully together.

The Plumberry is a mid-tone purple shade with slight shimmer, while the liner is exactly as its name sounds, a dark purple-brown color.

The shadow is creamy and easy to blend, but once it sets, the thing doesn't budge!  Well, at least not on the back of my hand. I had to scrub like hell to get it off after I swatched it. The liner is also pretty budget-proof, though it was slightly easier to get off than the shadow.

The modernEYES Shadow/Liner is exclusive to QVC until January 2013.

Tarte gifted Amazonian Clay Mascara

Tarte's gifted Amazonian Clay Mascara has been out for while, but I haven't had a chance to try it.  I am a big fan of Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara, and find it hard to believe that this one could be better but I have read plenty of good things about it.  I have so many mascaras to go through, though, that it may be a while before I get to test this one.

Tarte LipSurgence Lip Shine

The other product in this TSV that I'm probably most interested to try is the LipSurgence Lip Shine in smitten.  I have a ton of the LipSurgence Lip Lusters and Lip Tints, but this product is definitely different.  For one thing, it's longer and thinner than the others... and for the other, it requires sharpening unlike the other LipSurgence products that have a twist-up bottom.

There is a sharpener built into the cap, though, so it's easy to do.

Like the other LipSurgence products, the Lip Shine has a fresh mint scent - and a slight tingle on the lips. However, the formula is definitely more opaque than the Lip Lusters and isn't matte like the Lip Tints.

Smitten is a pretty, mid-tone pink.  It's not quite as bright as it looks in the photos, so it's totally wearable even if you're fair like me.

It's also exclusive to QVC until January 2013.

Tarte Maracuja C-Brighter Eye Treatment

The little extra thrown in with this kit is a sample of the Maracuja C-Brighter Eye Treatment. The packaging says "Sneak Peek," so I imagine this is a product that's coming out in the not too distant future. In addition to maracuja oil, the eye cream also contains vitamin C to help hydrate, brighten and firm under the eyes. I haven't found an eye cream that I really love, so I'm excited to give this a try.
