Hello 2019!

It's almost impossible to believe that a new year is upon us. 2018 was somewhat of a blur for me, and if I'm honest, it was really the greatest year for me or those closest to me (and really, the world in general, in my opinion).

So I'm ready for 2019 and firmly committed to doing everything that I can to make it more positive than 2018.

With that in mind, I thought I'd share some of my makeup-related resolutions for the New Year as a way to start 2019 off on the right foot.  Please feel free to share your resolutions, beauty-related or otherwise, below -- I can definitely use all the inspiration I can get!

1. Get back on a regular blogging schedule.
As you've probably noticed, I've been rather erratic, if not downright MIA, here on this blog in recent months. That's due mainly to other stuff going on in my life (work can be a real pain in the butt... gotta start buying those MegaMillions tickets more regularly...) and then once I got behind, I got a little overwhelmed and kind of threw in the towel.

But I'm determined to get back on track with at least a couple of posts a week. *fingers crossed*

2. Be more mindful about the makeup I buy.
I don't have the personality that lends itself to a no-buy -- if I tell myself that I can't do something, then that's the only damn thing I want to do -- but I know that I have more makeup than any normal person could ever need.

I need to stop buying every new item that comes out just because I get a little excited by promo photos and start asking myself how much use I'm actually going to get out of it. While I don't mind having some products that I only use occasionally, I don't need to buy an entire palette full of shades I'll never wear just because it photographs well.

3. Organize my makeup collection more effectively.
As I said, I have a ton of makeup, and honestly, there's really no rhyme or reason to the way I have it stored. That means that it can take me forever to find that one lipliner I'm dying to use or I wind up using the same three eyeshadow palettes for months at a time because they're the ones that are easiest to access.

To get the most out of the products I own, I really want to make organization a priority with my makeup in 2019. I'm not really sure exactly how I want to organize it -- by product category, sure, but then do I sort things out by brand or shade? Or something else entirely?

I'm not sure, so I'm going to do some research and check out other makeup junkies' organization systems of choices to figure out what I think will work best for me. (If you have tips, please feel free to share!)

4. Improve my makeup storage.
Part of the reason that my makeup collection isn't effectively organized is that my storage options are somewhat lacking. I overloaded the set of drawers that I use for the bulk of my stuff so much that almost half the drawers have broken (probably a sign I have a makeup hoarding problem, huh?) and my sets of drawers don't really allow me to see all of the products that are inside them.

Again, I don't have any concrete ideas about what storage options I might look into, so I'll need to do some research to find some effective possibilities.

I have some non-makeup resolutions too (Eat better, drink more water, write more often, purge my closet and dresser, etc.) because there always seems to be so much room for improvement. I think it's a good thing to hold yourself accountable but just as important to be kind and understanding with yourself when you stumble a little along the way.

All we can do is try as best we can, right?

So here's to a happy, healthy, productive, kinder 2019!
