Product Review -- Wet n Wild Color Icon Rainbow Highlighter in Unicorn Glow

Rainbow highlighters have been all the rage over the past year.

I have to admit, I wasn't all that into them.

Blue, green, and purple highlighters have always been a little intimidating to me, which is probably the main reason for my disinterest.

I also don't really see the point of the rainbows shades in a single product -- it's not like all of the shades are going to be distinct on the skin, so it seems more gimmicky than anything else.

But I've come around on the idea of highlighters in unique shades, such as blue and green, and when I saw that Wet n Wild had put out the Color Icon Rainbow Highlighter in the shade Unicorn Glow, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to try the trend without spending too much.

The highlighter retails for only $5.99, so if you're leery of trying an expensive rainbow highlighter, this is an ideal alternative.

The highlighter comes in pretty inexpensive plastic packaging with a clear lid that allows you to see the product inside.

The highlighter itself contains six different shades: pink, peach, yellow, green, blue, and lilac.

As I suspected, I can't really see any way that you could get all six shades to show up at once because the pan is so wide that even if you find a brush that would pick up all of them, it would cover a wider area on your cheek or face than you usually want for a highlighter.

Instead, I blend all of the shades together, which creates a pretty golden green shade.

The highlighter has a glow-y, slightly metallic finish, but there is no chunky glitter so it's not too over the top for daytime use.

Even though the highlighter has a green tone, it doesn't go on like a big green stripe on your face. It blends into the skin nicely, so it only flashes green when the light hits it just right -- and even then, it's very subtle.

I think this is a really nice option if you've wanted to try a rainbow or unique colored highlighter, but don't necessarily want to pay big bucks for one.

You can purchase the highlighter on the Wet n Wild website and most places where Wet n Wild products are sold.

Have you tried the Wet n Wild Color Icon Rainbow Highlighter? What's your favorite highlighter at the moment?
