Product Review -- Estee Lauder Gritty and Glow Magnetic Eye and Face Palettes

During the Sephora VIB sale a month ago, I tried to focus on getting products that I've been wanting to try for a while.

But I'm a makeup palette junkie so I couldn't resist the opportunity to add another to my collection at a discount.

And the Estee Lauder Gritty and Glow Magnetic Eye and Face Palettes seemed the best way to go because you get both eye and face products in two separate compacts.

It'd been quite a while since I'd tried an Estee Lauder product too, so it was the perfect time to try the brand again.

The set contains two sturdy, covered cardboard separate palettes -- the Gritty Eye Palette, which is a sparkly black, and the Glow Face Palette, which is a sparkly silver. They are magnetized, so when placed back to back, the palettes stick to one another. I'm not entirely sure what the point of that is, but it is kind of cool.

Inside each palette is decent size mirror (though you need to prop it up against something to keep the palette open), and six shades.

The Gritty Palette contains eye shadows in the shades: Swerve, a metallic golden copper; Riff, a metallic pink champagne; Burn, a dark brown with gold shimmer; Wavy, a metallic emerald green; Mood, a black with multicolor shimmer; and Trip, an iridescent blue.

The Glow Palette contains face colors in Snowlit, a shimmery white gold; 14K Glow, a shimmery yellow gold; 1st Light, a shimmery soft pink; Gleam, a shimmery peachy pink; Ray, a shimmery golden bronze; and Beachy, a shimmery light copper.

The quality of these palettes is outstanding. I was actually surprised by how impressive they are -- all of the shades are highly pigmented, smooth, creamy, and easy to blend. They're pretty much a dream to work with.

The shades in the Gritty Palette are all lovely, though I will say that it's not really a stand alone palette for me. First of all, there are no matte shades -- they're all metallic and very shimmery -- and the shades are all rather bold and in your face.

With my fair skin, wearing only shades from this palette would be a little too dramatic for every day.

However, I love mixing them with matte, neutral shades for that added pop that makes an eye look a little more memorable.

In the Glow Palette, Snowlit is a gorgeous highlight and 1st Light and Gleam are lovely blush shades. 14K, Ray, and Beachy are too dark to use as highlights on my fair skin, but I think they'd be absolutely gorgeous on medium and darker skin tones.

I've used them as eyeshadows, and they work beautifully that way.

The set retails for $58, and I feel like that's a really good deal for all of the products and shades that you get.

It's available on the Estee Lauder website and Sephora.

Have you tried the Estee Lauder Gritty and Glow Magnetic Eye and Face Palettes? What's been your favorite palette of this holiday season?
