Upcoming Tarte Beauty Without Boundaries TSV from QVC

If you've been reading this blog for a while, you probably know two things about me.

1) I am a sucker for pretty much any beauty-related TSV on QVC

2) I love almost everything that Tarte puts out.

That's why you probably won't be surprised to know that I pre-ordered the Tarte Beauty Without Boundaries TSV that will air on QVC on September 24th.

While I likely would have ordered any collection that Tarte put out, this one was actually a no-brainer for me because it contains a product that has quickly become a must-have for my makeup bag, along with a few new products that I was interested in trying and a mascara that I love.

That said, I don't think this TSV will appeal to everyone because its centerpiece is not necessarily a product that everyone will buy into.

Now, as I said, it's become a must-have for me, but I'm not sure that everyone else would agree.

Here's what you get in the kit:

  • Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer SPF30
  • Double-Ended Primer Brush
  • Tarte BB Tinted Undereye Corrector
  • Dual-Sided Bamboo Eraser Brush
  • Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes Inner Rim Liner
  • Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes Mascara
  • Tarte Lip Surgence Intense in Awakening

The collection also includes a large canvas-type makeup bag with a funky chevron pattern.

As I mentioned, I am a devoted fan of the BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer. If you're expecting an Asian style BB cream, you'll certainly be disappointed. But as a tinted primer, it is pretty fabulous. You can read my full review (and find a swatch) here, but I love the way it helps boost the coverage of light liquid or cream foundations. I also use it under powder or mineral foundations for a little extra coverage.

I don't use it everyday, but there are probably at least four days out of each week that I do wear it, including some days all on its own.

I can't say enough good things about it.

Of course, I ordered it in Fair and find that it's a good match for my skin tone.

The double-ended primer brush features synthetic bristles on both ends. However, one end features a pointed head that is ideal for applying the primer under the eyes, around the nose and any other small areas on the face. The other end features a flat-topped head that is perfect for buffing the primer into larger areas of the face.

I like the brush quite a bit, though when I'm in a hurry I apply the BB Tinted Treatment Primer with my fingers.

The BB Tinted Undereye Corrector is one of the kit's new products, and as someone who is a sucker for concealers and correctors, it is right up my alley.

It is essentially a peach-toned corrector for covering up dark circles under the eyes. It is nice and creamy, so it blends easily under the eyes and I haven't had a problem with creasing (though I've only used it a few times).

Because I ordered the BB Tinted Primer in Fair, I received the corrector in Fair/Light. (The shades coordinates with one another so you'll get an accurate match.) Personally, I can't use it on its own because the peach tones are too obvious on my fair skin. However, if your skin is a little darker, you may be able to use this by itself.  I just layer my normal concealer on top of it -- so far, I've only experimented with the Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer over it -- and I don't have any problem with it looking cakey.

It definitely gets the job done for me too, though I should point out that my dark circles are light to medium.  If you have severe dark circles, I'm not sure how it would work.  However, the coverage is pretty good so it's probably worth a shot.

I should point out that the name of the product seems to be a misnomer -- I think it's another case of a company wanting to cash in on the BB cream craze, but the corrector isn't "tinted."  It offers much more coverage than you'd expect from a tinted product.

The dual-sided bamboo eraser brush features synthetic bristles with one side yellow and one side purple. The yellow side appears to me more like a traditional flat concealer brush, while the purple side is slightly fluffier. Tarte advises using the flat side to apply the corrector and then flip it over to the fluffy side to blend it in.

Honestly, though, it blends the corrector in just fine, though, regardless of the side I used.

The Lights, Camera, Flashes Inner Rim Liner is a waterproof eyeliner pencil designed to last up to 12 hours on the inner rims. It is a rich black color and has a nice creamy formula.  The liner does last pretty well on the waterline, but the 12-hour claim is kind of silly. I just don't believe any liner can last that long in that area.

Still, this is a nice eyeliner that lasts a good long while -- probably as long as the Urban Decay 24/7 Liners, which are always the gold standard that I measure other liners against when it comes to staying power.

I tried the Lights, Camera, Flashes Mascara in a previous Tarte TSV, and I am a big fan.  It really does deliver long, voluminous statement lashes.  I don't use it everyday, but whenever I want big, dramatic lashes, this is my go-to mascara.

You can read my first impressions of the mascara here and see a before/after photo of my lashes with the mascara here.

The LipSurgence Intense is similar to Tarte's other LipSurgence products in that it's a twist-up pencil formula that allows you to line and fill in your lips easily. It also has the same pleasant minty scent.

However, the LipSurgence Intense is definitely more opaque than the other LipSurgence products. While it's not particularly moisturizing, it doesn't dry out the lips or feel uncomfortable when you're wearing it.There's no shimmer or glitter in it, but it has a slightly glossy finish so I wouldn't really call it matte either.

I like it quite a bit, just as I like the rest of the LipSurgence products that I've tried.  Awakening is described as a neutral pink, and I think that's fairly accurate. It's a nice mid-tone pink that would work on most skin tones.

As is always the case with Tarte TSVs, the throw-in makeup bag is actually quite nice.  It's a good size and made from a nice, durable material that should hold up well to traveling. I also love the fun, vibrant pattern.

When the TSV airs on September 24th, the kit will be $59.96 plus s/h. If you consider that the BB Tinted Primer retails for $34 and the Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara is $23 on its own, this is a seriously good deal.

As I said, though, if you're not a fan of or interested in trying the BB Tinted Primer, you may not be that excited by the kit.  Personally, I really love all of the products and think they'll fit into my makeup routine quite nicely.

Of course, I locked in the TSV price for future A/D shipments because I never want to be without the BB Tinted Primer.

As always, if you'd like information about ordering this TSV early, email me.

What do you think of this kit?  Are you a fan of the BB Tinted Primer?

  1. I am also SO obsessed with the Tarte BB tinted primer! It is the best primer I've ever used and I also love how it gives me a little bit of extra coverage. I'm thinking of getting this set just so that I can get a back-up, and because you just can't go wrong with anything Tarte!

    1. If you love the BB Tinted Primer, you should absolutely get this kit! For like $20 more than the regular price of the primer, you get to try all the other products, which are really good. It's a great deal. :)
