Getting Out of a Makeup Rut

Same old, same old

Has this ever happened to you?

You’re getting ready in the morning and take a look at your makeup collection, waiting for inspiration to strike.  There’s a rainbow of shadow colors in your arsenal, an endless array of pinks, peaches and plums making up your blush choices, and countless reds, plums, peachy-pinks, berries and nudes that fill your lip product drawer , making it really tough to choose just a few colors out of all the gorgeous shades that sit at your fingertips.

So you sit and try to decide which colors or products you should wear today….

Only to wind up choosing the same eye shadows, blush and lipstick that you wore the day before and the day before that and that day before that…

You get my point.

I have a ton of makeup that l love, but lately, I’ve been in a serious rut.

Pretty much every day that I’ve worn makeup recently, I reach for the Balm’s Nude’Tude Palette or Urban Decay’s Naked2, Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Blush in dazzled or Milani’s Illuminating Face Powder in Amber Nectar, and Mac’s Innocence Beware lipstick or Revlon’s Lip Butter in Peach Parfait.

Seriously.  Every day.

Now, these are all great products (I’ve gone on and on about most of them on this blog enough times), but I feel like I’m neglecting the rest of the stuff in my collection – and I hate that. 

So this week, I’ve issued myself a little challenge – besides foundation and concealer, I can’t use any product twice.  It’s a way of giving all of the items in my collection a little more love (and maybe justifying the fact that I have a bazillion lipsticks and eye shadows…) and mixing up my look a bit. I feel like I'll be forced to be more creative too, which is always a good thing as far as I'm concerned.
