Product Review -- Tarte Confidence Creamy Powder Foundation

I've been purchasing Tarte face products (Oh, who am I kidding? All manner of Tarte products actually) like it's going out of style lately.

I mean, in the past several months, I've tried two new foundations and a concealer... and yet, every time another product hits the shelves, I'll all over it.

Case in point: the new Tarte Confidence Creamy Powder Foundation.

I've mentioned before how difficult it can be to find a powder that plays well with my dry skin, so as soon as I saw the word "creamy" in its title, I knew that I had to give this powder a try.

Review -- e.l.f. Pressed Mineral Foundation

I'm a big fan of e.l.f.

They make a lot of pretty fabulous products that are super budget-friendly and they're always having sales on top of that, so you can score a ton of items without your wallet hurting too much.

But as much as I love e.l.f., I've never had much luck with their face products -- the foundations, concealers, tinted moisturizers, etc. have always been too dark for my super fair skin or I wasn't a fan of the formulas.

There have been a couple of exceptions, though -- like the Studio Moisturizing Foundation Stick. I like that a lot on days when I'm in a hurry to get my makeup on.

Still, I decided to give the e.l.f. Pressed Mineral Foundation a try because I'd heard some good things about it.

And e.l.f. describes it as a hydrating powder, which, to someone with dry to normal skin, is pretty much music to my ears.

Product Alert -- IT Cosmetics "New Year, Your Most Beautiful You!" 5-Piece TSV

Starting tonight at midnight (technically 12/28), QVC will be offering a new Today's Special Value (TSV) from IT Cosmetics that's pretty fabulous for the dry-skinned folks out there.

Over the past year, I've become a big fan of IT Cosmetics -- I actually have quite a few products that I've been meaning to review for a while now and just haven't gotten around to yet.  That's one of my New Year's resolutions, I swear. -- so this kit was calling my name right from the start, particularly since most of the products are a good fit if you have dry or mature skin.

It's winter so my skin is kind of like the Sahara at the moment, which means I need all the extra moisture that I can get.

The kit contains 5 items:
  • Heavenly Luxe Sensory Sweeping Fan Brush
  • Feel the Moment Anti-Aging Primer Serum
  • Bye Bye Under Eye/Hello Light Liquid Brightener Dual Concealer
  • Heavenly Luxe Double Airbrush Foundation Brush
  • Celebration Foundation Ilumination

May 2013 Favorites

In May, it finally started to feel like summer around these parts and there were definite adjustments to my makeup routine as a result.

Accordingly, there were a few products that I found myself turning to all month for the perfect warm-weather look.

Oh, and I actually have a skincare product to mention this month as well.  I know, I know ... will wonders never cease?

Review -- Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation (& Airbuki Foundation Brush)

Since my skin has become drier as I've gotten older, finding a mineral or powder foundation that cooperates with it has definitely become a challenge.

They can cling to flaky patches, make my skin look super dull, or just plain look powdery and ashy on face.

In other words, not attractive at all.

That's why, for the most part, I the powder foundations for spring and summer when my skin is more oily and I'm prone to sweating because they're just a better fit then. I do occasionally wear them in colder months over a liquid or cream foundation when I really want full coverage.

Typically, I like loose powder foundations better than pressed versions because they're usually lighter in texture so they don't look so heavy on the skin. That's why I intrigued when I saw that Tarte was coming out with a loose powder foundation -- the Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation.

bareMinerals Ready Foundation Tips

So the cold that I was trying so desperately to fight off last week has been kicking my butt pretty good since the weekend.

I choose to be positive, so all I keep telling myself is, at least it's not the flu.

That said, I haven't worn a stitch of makeup (unless you count Chapstick) or really even thought about makeup all week.

Still, an interesting e-mail popped up in my inbox from bareMinerals the other day and I thought the info was worth sharing.

I've made it pretty clear how disappointed I was with the new Ready Pressed Foundation here and here.

bareMinerals Ready SPF20 Foundation

This review has been a long time coming.

I received my bareMinerals Ready SPF20 Foundation more than a month ago, and while I like to experiment with products for a while before I share my feelings, I usually don't take a full month.

Unless it's a skin care product, you can pretty much tell in a week or so whether a foundation, eye shadow, lipstick etc. works for you.

But I think with the Ready Foundation, I kind of didn't want to admit how I really felt about it.

August Favorites

So it's that time again ... monthly favorites.

This month, I don't have quite as many as usual mainly because I played with my eye makeup so much in August that I didn't really wear any particular shadows regularly. Still, I have some goodies to share - a few I've mentioned before and some I haven't.

Laura Geller Fresh Brewed Beauty Baked Collection TSV from QVC

Laura Geller Fresh Brewed Beauty TSV
Another week, another beauty TSV from QVC arrives on my doorstep.

I have a serious addiction, I swear.

This time, it's the Laura Geller Fresh Brewed Beauty Collection, which will be available on September 24th on QVC.  I've purchased a couple of previous TSVs from Laura Geller and I find her products to be largely hit or miss.  I love her Balance-n-Brighten Powder Foundation and most of her shadows and blushes.  I'm iffy on her eyeliners and lip products and flat out hate her mascaras.
