Product Review -- L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation

These days, with my skin getting drier each year, I love a good dewy or radiant foundation.

If that foundation also happens to be hydrating, well, then, even better.

Particularly now that we're headed into winter and colder weather, and my skin is starting to get its driest.

That's why I couldn't picking up the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation when I was at Walgreen's recently.
A spin-off of the brand's Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation, this formula claims to deliver "24 hours of hydrating glow." That's actually kind of a surprising claim for a moisturizing, dewy foundation -- the promise of long-time wear -- because typically, the things that make a formula hydrating are the same things that make it not particularly long-lasting.

(Though, let me get on my soapbox and rant for just a moment on a sort of tangential point -- I really hate when foundations promise 24 hour wear. Are there really people who want or expect their makeup to last an entire day? It just seems so silly.)

The foundation comes in a squeeze tube, which makes it easy to dispense just the right amount of product. The foundation has a fairly thin consistency, which does translate in a nice lightweight feel on the skin. It also blends well into the skin, so it's an easy foundation to apply.

L'Oreal says the Pro-Glow provides medium coverage, and I would say that's accurate. It evens out the skin tone extremely well and covers slight discolorations. For extreme dark circles, very red breakouts, and other more noticeable imperfections, you'll probably need to follow up with concealer.

While the foundation is mildly hydrating and works very well on drier skin, it's not super moisturizing so I think it would work well for folks with normal or combination skin too.

To me, the foundation doesn't have a particularly glow-y finish either. It's more satin in my opinion, which is probably why it does wear extremely well. I've never put it to the 24 hour test, but I can get a good 12+ hours out of it.

I purchased the Pro-Glow in the lightest shade, 201 Classic Ivory, and it's an extremely good match for my very fair skin.

My favorite way to apply it is with a Beauty Blender or similar type sponge (actually, this is my favorite way to apply any foundation when my skin is particularly dry because it doesn't accentuate flaky areas like a brush can sometimes do), but it works well with a brush as well.

I would definitely recommend this foundation for folks with normal to dry skin. It retails for approximately $12.99 anywhere you can find L'Oreal products.

Have you tried the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation? What's your favorite foundation for dry skin or the colder weather?
