Product Alert -- Buxom Pout Out Loud and Tarte Deluxe Amazonian Butter Lipstick Set

When it comes to choosing makeup gift sets for friends and family at the holidays, I always feel like lip product collections are often the best option.

That's because even the people I know who aren't as into makeup as I am usually use a lipstick or lip gloss at least occasionally and enjoy having several shades to choose from.

I picked up a couple of fun lip kits from Sephora and Ulta recently that I think would make great gifts or stocking stuffers for family and friends -- or provide a good chance to try out some interesting lipsticks and glosses.

Best of all, both are under $25.

The Buxom Pout Out Loud kit contains three deluxe sample sizes of Buxom lip products. You get:
  • Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick in Rebel Rose
  • Full-On Lip Cream in Hot Toddy
  • Full-On Lip Polish in Gabby
l. to r.: Buxom Gabby, Rebel Rose, Hot Toddy

Rebel Rose is a rosy pink with a satin finish. Hot Toddy is a pinky nude. Gabby is a shimmery plummy mauve.

I'm a big fan of both the Full-On Lip Creams and Full-On Lip Polishes, so I knew I'd like those. The Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick was a revelation, though -- it has such a nice creamy feel on the lips. I definitely think I need a few full size shades in the near future.

The kit retails for $19 at Sephora.

If you're looking for a lipstick-only kit, the Tarte Deluxe Amazonian Butter Lipstick Set may be a good option.

The kit contains:
  • Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Bellini
  • Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Mimosa
  • Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Punch
  • Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Sangria

Punch is a rosy pink. Bellini is a shimmery pinky peach. Mimosa is peachy nude. Sangria is a purple-y berry shade.

These lipsticks are all mini in size (.035 oz compared .1 oz for a full size) and come in cardboard tubes, which I know bother some people. Personally, I don't mind them and while the Amazonian Butter Lipsticks aren't the most moisturizing I've ever tried, I think they're very comfortable on the lips.

The kit retails for $21 at Ulta.

What are your favorite type of holiday kits? Which holiday lip kit has impressed you the most this season?
