Product Review -- L'Oreal Colour Riche La Palette Nude 2

As a makeup junkie, I've been really excited about the the fact that more and more drugstore brands seem to be introducing eye shadow palettes into their lines.

It doesn't matter that I haven't really found one that excites me -- I recognize that it might take a few tries for brands like Maybelline and L'Oreal to get the palette thing right. Just the idea that there are more budget-friendly options available out there makes me happy.

So I was pretty excited to try the L'Oreal Colour Riche La Palette Nude(s) when they came out several months back -- mainly because I'm a sucker for nude or natural shadows and this palette just seemed much more substantial than Maybelline's The Nudes Palette.

The Colour Riche La Palette Nude comes in two shades: 1, which seems to include more brown-toned shades, and 2, which contains more rosy, mauve-y nude tones.

I went with 2, because I'm kind of obsessed with rosy brown shades at the moment (and I have plenty of brown nude palettes in my collection already).

The palette comes in a black plastic compact with a narrow mirror on the inside. It also includes a double-sided applicator, with a sponge tip on one end and a small brush on the other end.

There are 10 shadows in the palette, which are not named. L'Oreal numbers them, so you can follow along with the look ideas that they provide on the back of the palette.

The shadows are a mixture of matte, shimmer, and satin shades.

Now, I've tried some of the newer L'Oreal Colour Rich Dual Effects shadow quads and I really like them -- but I think the shadow formula for the La Palette Nude is even better. All of the shadows are nicely pigmented, smooth, and easy to apply.

They do tend to blend very easily as well, so they can sometimes run into each other and get a little muddy looking, but that just means that you need to blend a little more carefully.

Considering that you get 10 shadows for just about $20, I still think the palette performs really well. I'm seriously impressed.

So if you're looking for a wearable palette that you can use for everyday looks, I definitely recommend checking these palettes out (and I think the shades in 2 are especially pretty!).

You can find them anywhere L'Oreal products are sold.

Have you tried the L'Oreal Colour Riche La Palette Nude 1 or 2? Which is your favorite?

  1. I also think it´s amazing that drugstore brands dare to give people an alternative! I´m honestly impressed by this one - although there´s room for improvement - there are a few shades that I really like and I guess if you´re new to make-up it would actually be better to start with a not quite as pigmented practice-palette. :)

    1. It really is nice to have more budget-friendly options out there. And I totally agree it being easier for beginners to start with less pigmented shadows. Honestly, with my fair skin, I like having a few lesser pigmented shadows that I can throw on in a hurry without having to worry about blending for hours. ;)
