Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup

I've wanted to try the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup ($38) since it came out.

I forced myself to hold back, though, because I need another bottle of foundation like I need a hole in the head and I told myself to at least wait until I finished one of the many in my collection before buying another.

But then, Urban Decay had their 20% off Friends & Family sale, and I decided that I'd been patient enough.

I mean, I waited like three whole months - that's something, isn't it?

And fortunately, after coveting it from afar for what seemed like ages, it actually lives up to my expectations.

It might actually exceed, if I'm really honest.

On the packaging, Urban Decay claims that the foundation transforms your complexion by making it look natural, illuminated and bright. As the name suggests, it is meant to be weightless and nearly invisible on the skin with a demi-matte finish.

It also contains a bunch of high tech ingredients like Matrixyl 3000, an anti-wrinkle peptide; Litchiderm, which is supposed to brighten; green tea to deliver antioxidants; and other vitamins that are good for the skin.

I know, I know - it all sounds too good to be true, right?

Well, it pretty much is true.

Seriously.

The Naked Skin foundation has a thin, lightweight consistency, so it really does look and feel like you have nothing on your skin.  Yet, amazingly, I only need only pump to cover my entire face - and the coverage is pretty darn impressive for something that feels so light.

Since I got the foundation about a week, I've been battling a mild breakout on my cheek. Nothing serious, but it's definitely noticeable without makeup.  One layer of the Naked Skin foundation covers up those pesky little blemishes almost completely - not completely, I should point out. If I'm going out and want to look nearly flawless, I still dab a little concealer on them but for everyday, the foundation alone gets the job done.

The finish is exactly as Urban Decay describes - demi-matte.  Now, I usually prefer foundations with a dewy or luminous finish, but Naked Skin looks so lovely and natural on that I don't mind adding a little extra glow with highlighter.

Because of the finish, I really think the foundation would work for most skin types. If you have extremely oily or extremely dry skin, it might be a little tricky but everyone in between should be able to work with the Naked Skin to get the look that they want.

As I mentioned, it comes in a pump container, which I always prefer. It's an easy pump to control too so I definitely appreciate that.

You're supposed to shake up the foundation before each use, and when you do, it makes an interesting sound - kind of like when you shake a can of spray paint.  Not sure what that's about, but I thought I'd mention it.

In terms of colors, the Naked Skin foundation is available in 18 shades that really seem to run the gamut of possible skin tones.

Of course, I chose the lightest shade, 0.5, and it's a really good match for my skin tone (Rejoice fellow pale-skinned folks out there!). Urban Decay says that there are subtle pink undertones, but it seems pretty neutral to me.

Urban Decay sells a brush designed specifically for use with the foundation - the Good Karma Optical Blurring Brush - but I just used my usual foundation brushes and they all work equally well.

As with most foundations, the Naked Skin foundation comes in a 1 fl. oz. bottle.  It costs $38, which certainly isn't cheap but it's almost as good as my all-time favorite foundation, MUFE's HD Foundation (I'll still give the nod to the HD because the coverage is a little better, and is actually a few dollars cheaper.

It's definitely worth the price, in my opinion.

You can purchase the Naked Skin foundation at Urban Decay, Sephora, and anywhere else you can buy Urban Decay products.

Have you tried the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation?  What new foundation has rocked your world lately?

  1. This is on my wishlist, and I just printed out a 20% off nearly everything coupon for Ulta, and it includes UD. I might be picking this up on Saturday. I'm loving the samples I have of it. Out of curiosity, what other mainstream foundations are matches for you. My best matches so far are that Tarte Amazonian clay foundation in fair and Nars Sheer Matte Siberia.

    1. We may be twins! The best match I've ever found in a foundation is the Tarte Amazonian Clay in fair (though the formula doesn't always agree with my skin, which is a bummer) and I wear Siberia in the Nars Sheer Glow. (I'm also 110 in the MUFE HD, if that helps.)I think 0.5 in the Naked would definitely work for you.

And if you can get 20% off, this foundation is definitely worth trying. If you do wind up getting it, let me know how the match is. I know how hard it can be to find a foundation that works with fair skin. So frustrating. :P

    2. Yay! I always love finding people who have the same skin tone. It makes it so much easier when it comes to comparing colors and figuring out what will work for me.

I'll definitely let you know because you're right, finding a foundation shade that matches is a pain. I'm so jealous of the women who can walk into the drugstore and find a match in nearly every brand. Then again, I love being pale, so I'll deal with it. :-)
