Product Review Roundup -- Too Faced Natural Matte Eye Shadow Palette, Natural Face Palette, and Natural Nudes Lipstick

I tried to resist Too Faced's It Just Comes Naturally Natural Beauty Collection, really I did, but between the natural inspired makeup shades and gorgeous packaging, I just couldn't do it.

Since both of the eye shadow palettes were essentially re-releases, I couldn't justify buying both of them just to see if the new formula with coconut butter was really any different, so I wound up buying the Natural Matte Eye Shadow Palette, which had seven new shades. (The Natural Eyes Eye Shadow Palette, with both matte and shimmer shadows, has all repeat shades from the previous Natural Eyes Palette, which I already own).

The packaging for the palette is absolutely lovely -- instead of the old tin box compact, it's housed in a plastic compact with a lace design and gold embossed details. There is a nice large mirror inside too. The palette is slightly difficult to open, though.

The palette contains nine matte shadows: Heaven, cream; Less Is More, cappuccino; Sexpert, roasted brown; Nude Goals, matte pale pink; Cleavage, mauve taupe; Risky Biz, plum brown; Lace Teddy, pale peach; Au Natural, honey; and Hookup, copper brown.

I've always really liked Too Faced's matte shadow formula, but I was interested to see if they really could improve it. Honestly, I don't notice much difference -- these shadows are nicely pigmented, smooth, creamy, and not very powdery. They blend and apply easily, and the palette contains a nice combo of warm, cool, and neutral tones. You can create a complete look with the palette, but it also makes a nice supplemental palette to use with other palettes in your collection.

The one thing I really don't like about it? The scent.

They're going for some sort of sweet coconut-y scent, but there's something so artificial about it that it kind of gives me a headache. It's not a big deal, though, because you only really get a whiff of it if you put it right up to your nose.

The Natural Face Palette has the same packaging as the shadow palette, but in a lighter pink shade and a larger size. It contains six face products, which include two highlighters, two blushes, and two bronzers.

I think I forgot to mention how the palettes have these adorable heart shaped closures.

The shades are Starlight, a frosted pink champagne highlighter; Pink Wink, a satin pink coral blush; Sunny Honey, a matte warm ginger bronzer; Satin Sheets, a frosted golden pink highlighter; Pink Sand, a matte mocha pink blush; and Tropic Like It's Hot, a shimmering terracotta bronzer.

All of the face products are quite nice -- they're well pigmented and blend easily.

The blushes and bronzers fit the natural theme quite well, but I find that the highlighters are actually pretty intense, so if natural is what you're after, use a very light hand.

I've become a big fan of face palettes that have everything you need in one spot, and I feel like this is a great one for travel because all of the shades are natural and will work with most eye makeup looks.

But like the eye palette, it has that same strange scent that I'm not crazy about.

I would've loved to buy a bunch of the Natural Nudes Lipsticks, but they're kind of pricey so I limited myself to one.

The lipstick packaging is a combination of cardboard and plastic, with the same floral lace design as the rest of the items in the collection.

The formula contains coconut butter, which is supposed to be very hydrating -- and the lipstick definitely feels very comfortable and moisturizing on the lips. The color is fairly opaque and has a nice shine too it too.

I purchased it in the shade Birthday Suit, which is supposed to be a rosy beige. I find it to be a little bit warmer than I'd like, so I don't wear it as often as I might. If they weren't so pricey, I'd probably try a couple of other shades ... which I might do at some point if curiosity gets the better of me.

All in all, I think this is a pretty nice collection. If the shades appeal to you, I definitely think it's worth checking out.

The eyeshadow palette retails for $38, the face palette goes for $44, and the lipsticks are $22 each. You can purchase the collection on the Too Faced website or at Sephora or Ulta.
