Product Review -- Maybelline Dream Brightening Creamy Concealer

With my super fair skin, brightening concealers are pretty hard to come by.

That's because it's hard enough to find a concealer that matches my skin tone, let alone one that's lighter enough than my skin to actually have a brightening effect.

Usually, pink-toned concealers are my best bet, but even those are pretty hit and miss.

Still, I was pretty excited to try the Maybelline Dream Brightening Creamy Concealer -- and it's only about $8, so even if I didn't love it, I wouldn't be out a lot of money.

The concealer comes in a plastic stick packaging. It's a twist-up applicator, though, so there's no sharpening necessary. The tip is fairly rounded, but I find that it still allows me to place the concealer exactly where I want it.

Of course, I purchased the concealer in the lightest shade, 10 Fair, and I find that while it's a decent match for my super fair skin, it doesn't do all that much in the way of brightening (just as I expected).

It does have a somewhat peachy undertone, though, so it can help hide darkness under the eyes pretty well.

The formula is fairly thin and creamy so it blends easily into the skin. I find that you can blend it equally well with a finger, brush, or sponge, depending on your preference.

Because it is a fairly thin concealer, I don't have any real issues with creasing, though I always set it with a powder to be safe.

That said, the Dream Brightening Creamy Concealer doesn't offer much in the way of coverage. If your dark circles are extremely deep, this isn't going to do the job of hiding them all by itself.

For me, it's pretty much a concealer I use on days when I'm in a hurry and just need a touch of coverage beneath my eyes.

So for anyone who's looking for a serious concealer, I'd say it's a hard pass for this one.

On the other hand, if you aren't a fan of heavy concealers, you might like the creamy, light coverage that this provides.
