Product Review -- Too Faced Born This Way Absolute Perfection Foundation

I am a total sucker when it comes to new foundations.

Particularly when they promise me radiant skin -- because I'm all about glowing skin, even more so now that I'm getting older.

So as soon as Too Faced announced the Born This Way Absolute Perfection Foundation, I knew I wanted to give it a try.

I mean, just look to the way that Too Faced describes it:
Born This Way is an oil-free foundation that masterfully diffuses the line between makeup and skin. For coverage so undetectable, you can’t see the makeup and you can’t see imperfections—all that’s left is naturally radiant skin that looks like you were Born This Way.

But I didn't purchase the foundation when it first came out because they hadn't released the full line of shades -- and I just knew that I would need the absolute lightest shade available, Snow, which didn't become available until the end of last year.

As soon as it was, though, I ordered it from Ulta (I even had a 20% off coupon at the time, which made buying it even more of a no-brainer).

And I have been absolutely obsessed with it ever since.

It is one of the best new foundations I've tried in ages (the MUFE Liquid Lift Foundation is probably its only competition) and I pretty much want to wear it everyday.

The foundation comes in a heavy glass bottle with lovely gold embossed writing. The bottle features a pump dispenser, which makes it really easy to get just the right amount of product each time, and contains the standard 1 oz. of foundation.

When you first dispense it, Born This Way looks pretty thick, but it blends out into a fairly thin, lightweight foundation -- and it blends out so easily that it really does meld with your skin so you don't look like you have tons of makeup on your face.

Too Faced describes the foundation as having medium to full coverage -- I would call it medium. It evens out the skin and covers most discolorations, but I've had a stubborn blemish on my chin for the past week or so and I usually need to add a little concealer to really hide it.

I'm sure you could build up the foundation to a fuller coverage because it does blend into the skin so well, but I personally don't like wearing multiple layers of foundation so I've never tried.

In terms of finish, I think radiant might be overselling it a little, but it does have a very skin-like finish, which I appreciate.

Given the consistency and finish, I feel like this foundation would work for most skin types, except very oily and very dry. For reference, my skin is normal to dry (drier, for sure, in colder weather) and it cooperates very well with it.

I do usually pair it with a hydrating primer, though, so keep that in mind.

The shade Snow is a good match for my very fair skin. Too Faced says it has neutral to pink undertones, and I think that's accurate.

Note: I apologize for the wonky lighting in the swatch photo. I noticed when I took the photos for the Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation that the swatches looked even more orange than the foundations actually were. It's making Snow look more orange-y than it really is too. It's strange because I haven't had an issue with the lighting in any of the photos I've taken of eye shadows, lipsticks, blushes, etc, but I'm working on it, I promise!

All in all, I absolutely love this foundation and would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a medium coverage product that has a very natural look on the skin. I will definitely repurchase when I use up this bottle.

It retails for $39 at the Too Faced website, Ulta, Sephora, and anywhere else you can buy Too Faced products.

Have you tried the Too Faced Born This Way Absolute Perfection Foundation? Are you a fan? What foundation have you been loving lately?
