Product Review -- YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks

A while back, I treated myself to a couple of YSL lipsticks.

I got one of the Rouge Volupte and one of the Volupte Sheer Candy, and I really like both of them.

The packaging is particularly attractive, and the lipsticks themselves feel quite nice on the lips.

But they're $36 each, and while I like them, I wasn't wowed enough by them to purchase any other YSL lipsticks.

So I was pretty excited when I got the chance to try a couple of the new YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks courtesy of Influenster, I was seriously excited.

As with the other YSL lipsticks that I own, the packaging for the Rouge Pur Coutures is really luxe. They come in gold metallic packaging that has a square shape and features a black, engraved YSL on the front. They are the kind of lipsticks that will make you feel really glamorous when you pull them out of your purse.

But as nice as the packaging is, the formula is the real stand out. These lipsticks have a really creamy, moisturizing feel on the lips so they're comfortable to wear. The pigmentation is amazing too -- one swipe and you get full, rich color.

The best thing, though, is that for such a hydrating formula, the Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks last quite a while on the lips. If I'm not eating or drinking, I can get four or five hours of wear without touching up.

I also haven't had an issue with bleeding either, so you can skip the lip liner with these lipsticks if you want.

I received the Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks in the shades 9 Rose Stiletto, a rich berry rose, and 19 Fuchsia, a bright fuchsia pink. I probably wouldn't have chosen either of these shades for myself, but they're both quite lovely.

Rose Stiletto is a great everyday lip color for fall and winter. Fuchsia is a little trickier for me to wear because it's such a bright color and I have pretty fair skin, but I actually find that if I layer it over Rose Stiletto, it's surprisingly wearable even with pale skin. If you have dark skin, though, I suspect that it would be gorgeous all on its own.

The one issue with these lipsticks is the price tag -- they're $36 each, which is pretty steep for a lipstick. However, the packaging and formula make me feel like they're worth the splurge. In fact, I like them so much that I plan to purchase one of the nude shades in the near future.

Oh, and I'm not a fan of the scent of these either -- it's very perfume-y, just like the other YSL lipsticks that I have. The scent doesn't linger too long, though, so it's not a deal breaker.

You can purchase these lipsticks at Sephora and the YSL website.

Have you tried the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks? Which shade is your favorite?
