April 2013 Favorites

In April, I tried plenty of new products but there were a few tried and true items that definitely stood out as favorites for the month.

Beauty Blender Makeup Sponge

Beauty Blender
I know, I know -- the Beauty Blender was in my March Favorites list too and it's probably pretty boring when I repeat items from month to month but I just want to make sure that I convey how much I love this amazing little sponge (though this is the last time it will appear in my monthly favorites list, I swear.).

I have foundations in my collection that I'd pretty much stopped wearing because they just looked too cakey or clung to my drier patches.  With the Beauty Blender as an application tool, I can wear pretty much any one and have it look absolutely flawless.

If you have dry skin and haven't tried the Beauty Blender yet, go do it.  It will change your life, I promise.

Lancome Teint Miracle (Ivoire 1(N))

Lancome Teint Miracle in Ivoire 1(N)
Speaking of foundations, I was all about glowy, dewy skin in April and there's no foundation that delivers it in as natural a way as the Lancome Teint Miracle.

You don't have to worry about glitter particles or a greasy looking face with this foundation -- the "lit from within" that it promises is really subtle so your skin just looks healthy and pretty. In terms of coverage, I'd say it's light to medium and it just feels really nice on the skin.

The shade Ivoire 1(N) is a good match for my skin too.

Benefit Coralista

I love peachy blush and I love pink blush, but Benefit's Coralista is like the perfect blend of both.

Because it doesn't really lean one way or the other, it works with virtually any eye or lip colors, so I wore it a ton in April.

Oh, and this really doesn't matter but it smells amazing too.

M.A.C. Rubenesque Paint Pot

M.A.C. Rubenesque Paint Pot
I was obsessed with peach/coral/copper eyeshadow in April -- I must have worn every shade that I own at least once -- and M.A.C's Paint Pot in Rubenesque is the perfect base for that type of look.

It's a lovely light golden peach shade so it adds warmth and looks lovely with blue eyes.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

Naked Basics Palette

Naked Basics Palette
This could be a favorite pretty much every month, but in April, I seemed to use the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette everyday.

Whether it's using Venus in the inner corner, WOS or Foxy as a brow highlight, Naked 2 as a soft crease color with a brightly colored lid, Faint to darken up the outer corner, or Crave as a liner, there are a million ways to use this palette.

I really think it's a must have for any serious makeup wearer.

(And yes, I really how ridiculous that sounds.)

MAC Lipstick in Shy Girl

M.A.C. Shy Girl

You know how much I love peachy lipsticks, and believe me, I have plenty of them... but in April, I didn't wear any as much as I wore M.A.C's Shy Girl.

It's a mid tone peach, not too bright, so it's totally wearable.  It's a cremesheen finish too so it feels nice on the lips.

Hourglass Femme Rouge Lipstick in Edition

Hourglass Edition
If I'm not wearing a peachy lipstick, I'm probably sporting a nice, wearable pink and nothing fits the bill better than Hourglass's Femme Rouge Lipstick in Edition.

It's a nice neutral pink with a hint of golden shimmer so it works on pretty much any skintone.  Like all of Hourglass's lipsticks, it's nice and smooth and feels pretty moisturizing on the lips.

If you're in the market for an everyday lipstick, this is a great option.

NARS Lipgloss in Super Orgasm

NARS Lipgoss in Super Orgasm

NARS Lipgoss in Super Orgasm
Who doesn't love a glittery lipgloss?

Well, plenty of people, I guess, but I sure loved the heck out of NARS' lipgloss in Super Orgasm in April

Super Orgasm is a nice brighter pink with plenty of gold glitter.  What's great about it is that it doesn't feel gritty on the lips the way that some glittery glosses can -- this one is nice and smooth and easy to wear.

It's plenty pigmented so you can wear it on its own but I also like layering it over lipstick.  It actually works well over Hourglass Edition, actually.

In terms of non-makeup favorites, I really feel the need to spread the word about a great little TV show.

Bob's Burgers.

It's obviously a cartoon, which I know may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's an amazingly funny, well-written show about a family that runs a burger joint.  All of the characters are pretty fabulous, but the three kids are my favorites. If there's ever been a more fabulously awkward teenage girl on TV than Tina, I have not seen her.

It's in its third season right now, airing Sunday nights at 8:30 on FOX here in the States, but you can catch up on all of the episodes on Amazon or iTunes.

If you only check out one episode, start with Sheesh! Cab Bob, the sixth eppy from the first season.

Awesome, awesome stuff.

What were your favorites in April?

    1. I will never be without a Beauty Blender again, that's for sure! :)

If you like peachy lipsticks, Shy Girl is definitely one to put on your shopping list. It's really perfect for summer too -- I think it would look especially pretty with a tan. (Not that I would know... I am Casper the Friendly Ghost pale. :P)

    1. I am super pale -- my best match in MAC is NW10. The NW15 is usually too dark and orange-y for my skin.

Teint Miracle in Ivoire 1N is nice and pale and is pretty neutral so you don't have to worry about it being too orange, too pink or too yellow.

      Hope that helps!
